If Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes set the tone, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes is ready to rip that apart in a ferocious ape-like fashion.
About a decade after the events in Rise, the humans that survived the deadly virus must try to fend for themselves against the angry ape uprising led by Caesar (Andy Serkis), the same ape that once lived in the house of James Franco’s character Will Rodman.
The first Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes trailer shows us that Will’s Caesar is long gone, replaced by a cold hearted leader that is planning to rage war against the human race led and their new leader, Dreyfus (Gary Oldman). From the trailer it looks like Jason Clarke’s character Malcolm will resume a similar human representative role to Caesar as we hear him approach the apes in the forest screaming out: “I need to speak to Caesar.”
It’s a wonderful dark and atmospheric trailer that sets up the tension that director Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) seems to be setting up for the next film quite nicely.
Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes will be released on July 11, 2014.
