The Amazing Spider-Man will join all the other big superhero movie franchises with their expansion into other character spinoffs, with the announcement that Venom and The Sinister Six will get their own movies.
A collective “franchise brain trust” has been put together in order to ensure the films develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the franchise. This trust will include: Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard. Their movie studio Superhero collective of sorts.
It’s rumored that Kurtzman is locked in to direct the Venom movie, with Goddard set it to possibly direct and write The Sinister Six. Webb is directing The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with the studio hoping that he’ll return for the 3rd.

May 2, 2014: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
June 10, 2016: The Amazing Spider-Man 3
May 4, 2018: The Amazing Spider-Man 4, which could wind up really just being either Venom or The Sinister Six, which the other to follow even further into the future.
