Jupiter Ascending Channing Tatum

Andy and Lana Wachowski’s last film Cloud Atlas divided many viewers into a love hate territory. I was somewhere in the middle, both astounded at times and left scratching my head at the ambitious sci-fi epic. They once again return to tell a futuristic sci-fi tale, this time with their new film, Jupiter Ascending.

Great things were predicted for Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) in her future, only her life has been anything but extraordinary. She is found on earth by Caine (Channing Tatum) a genetically engineered hunter (almost half animal/human) from another planet who knows of the great importance of Jupiter in order to keep the balance of the galaxy incant.

This is the quick capsule summary that we get from the quick teaser trailer which gives us enough to get a general idea about the story, without giving too much away. I don’t know that I’m sold on Kunis and Tatum as the two leads, but I do trust the Wachowski’s to give us an interesting, bold, sci-fi flick, so I will definitely reserve hope.

Andy and Lana wrote and directed the film, which in addition to Kunis and Tatum, stars Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, James D’Arcy, Tuppence Middleton, and Terry Gilliam. It will be released in theater on July 25, 2014.
