R.I.P. Paul Walker

It’s with a heavy heart that I report that actor Paul Walker has passed away at the age of 40. Paul was tragically killed on Saturday afternoon while returning from a charity event in California for his organization Reach Out Worldwide, set to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Paul was a passenger in his friends car who lost control of the vehicle and crashed at a high speed sending the car into flames. He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Paul was the star of the popular Fast and the Furious franchise, which is one of my favorite guilty pleasures (I know I’m not alone there). The first film came out when I was only 10 (in 2001), and it has been amazing to see how far the films have come since then. Paul is definitely a major part of their tremendous success. One of my favorite films of Paul’s is 2006’s Running Scared, one of the more overlooked films of the 2000s.

Paul was in the middle of filming the 7th film in the Fast and Furious series. This will obviously have a tremendous impact on that film.

It makes the whole thing 10x worse that he was killed returning from a charity event. This world doesn’t make sense sometimes. This is really devastating news, and we are deeply saddened by this great loss. Paul was known as a great guy in the industry and he had his whole career ahead of him. Hollywood lost a great guy.

RIP Paul
