22 Jump Street

21 Jump Street was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2012. It’s ending left no interpretation that a sequel was on the way, which we now know is rightfully titled 22 Jump Street. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum reprise their roles, only this time, they will go undercover as college students at a college campus.

Directors Phil Lord & Chris Miller return, as well as screenwriter Michael Bacall who wrote the first film along with Hill. Ice Cube will also reprise his role as Captain Dickson. Unfortunately Brie Larson will not be returning, which is a shame as I loved her character, and she’s one of my favorite new actresses. This leaves room for a new love interest for Hill, which will be played by Amber Stevens (from the ABC Family show, Greek). Wyatt Russell, the son of Kurt Russell, also joins the cast.

Russell will be playing a teammate of Jenko’s (Tatum) on the football team, as Schmidt goes towards the art scene. This causes them to question their partnership, and makes their ability to work this case a bit more difficult as they go deeper undercover. If it sounds familiar to the previous film, it is similar, but only this time there will be plenty of college antics to play around with, hopefully providing plenty of laughs. Lord and Miller plan to look deeply at the lasting relationship between Jenko & Schmidt, furthering the heart of the film that successfully made 21 Jump Street so more than your average comedy.
