Better Call Saul!
The long rumored Saul Goodman spinoff from Breaking Bad is now official. AMC along with Breaking Bad’s producer, Sony Pictures TV, have green-lit the series which is (of course) going to be called Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan will of stick around, as well as Breaking Bad’s producer/writer Peter Gould (who created Saul).
Deadline reports that the show will be a prequel of Saul Goodman’s journey to where he is now as Walter White’s lawyer, showing on his evolution as the character that we all know and love. It will be an hour long format just like Breaking Bad. Expect it to be more humorous and less dark than Breaking Bad, allowing the wonderful Bob Odenkirk to show off his true comedic chops even more.
The cool thing is that we may see some Breaking Bad characters return in some form if they were involved in Saul’s life early enough. There are a lot of opportunities for this, and hopefully if they do it right (which I trust they will), then we will get to have a form of Breaking Bad in some way even when the show finishes at the end of the month.
Excited to see what comes of Better Call Saul. No expected release date has been announced.
