Over the past few years Derek Cianfrance has gone on to become one my favorite new directors. I really loved both Blue Valentine and The Place Beyond The Pines and am already signed on for whatever Cianfrance has planned next.
His next project has been confirmed by Variety to be the Dreamworks film, The Light Between Oceans. It’s based of the novel of the same title by M.L. Stedman.
Here’s a brief synopsis of the book:
Story takes place after WWI on a remote Australian island where a lighthouse keeper and his wife face a moral dilemma when a dead man and a 2-month-old infant wash up in a boat on shore.
Sounds interesting. I can certainly see this being right up Cianfrance’s alley.
