One of the toughest conflicts I’ve ever seen at a festival was the placement of New Order/Queens Of The Stone Age. I say this as someone who has yet to see either band. As you can tell I went with the former, as they are on the older side of things and who knows when they shall play next. There will be more chances to see Queens.
Even without Peter Hook, New Order sounded sharp and very much alive. The crowd was unsurprisingly more mature than most sets saw, but these were arguably some of the most passionate fans out of all. They were singing and moving along to every word, taking it all in. It was surreal for me to see New Order, and also the band members of Joy Division in the flesh. We got treated to some of the best efforts of both bands, getting to hear the master classic “Blue Monday” as well as Joy Division’s “Atmosphere”, “Transmission”, and “Love Will Tear Us Apart.”
