Father John Misty has played in NYC plenty of times, but it took a trip to Lollapalooza is Chicago to finally see him live. The last time I saw him play was with Fleet Foxes, so it was still new to me to see him front and center, but man, Josh has become a rock and roll star. An egnatic frontman, he was wild and entertaining on stage, and even funnier in between songs with some hilarious banter.

In the middle of a song he took a unicorn toy someone had and sang to it, right before he started to make out with it. It’s all a part of his show, which is not to take away from his tremendous talent as an artist, because he was unstoppable live. Surely one of the most enjoyable sets that I saw all weekend.

I had the pleasure of meeting Josh in the press area (see photo above), and he was as friendly of a guy as I’ve ever met. Hope to see him live again soon, I am not going to miss him around these parts this time. Hit the jump to find a huge gallery of photos.
