We here at Filmtastic are based in Rockland County, New York. We’re only about 30-minutes out of NYC so we always have the option to head there to check out a movie. But it’s expensive to get into the city, and often not the most convenient option. So when it was announced that an Alamo Drafthouse was coming to Yonkers, a somewhat easier option for us, I was ecstatic. There’s no reason not be excited for its arrival if you’re a movie fan.
They have a zero-tolerance policy towards talking/texting during the movie, which may be the greatest thing I have ever heard. They don’t allow anyone under 18 unless their accompanied by an adult and only allow babies during “baby day” screenings. They will feature 32 beers on tap, including local beers, and food options created by their executive Chef Lupe Gutierrez.
They’ve announced that they will finally open their doors on August 5. They will do some test runs on August 2-4 as staff training days.with discounted movie tickets and 50% of food and non-alcoholic drinks.
The announced schedule is incredible already. Along with the newest releases, the theater will be showing classics such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail (Quote-Along), Shaun Of The Dead (Quote-Along), Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Hot Fuzz, Big Lebowski (Quote-Along), Trainspotting, Withnail ^ I, and The Darjing Limited with a special Avery Brewing Company beer dinner. Amazing? Yes.
Head over to their site now and be sure to check out what this great theater has to offer. I can’t wait to take full advantage of it once it finally arrives.
