Today’s Guns N’ Roses may not be your parents Guns N’ Roses, but Axl Rose certainly tries. For the most part, the show was pretty entertaining. It was damn cool to hear “Welcome To The Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and the like live. Guns N’ Roses are very much stuck in the 80s, with a huge 2 floor stage setup and pyro explosions going off as routine as can be.
There was a lot of controversy surrounding the announcement that GNR were booked at the festival, as most of the other bands booked were mostly at the opposite end of the sprectrum. With that said, it didn’t really surprise me that the crowd wasn’t nearly as packed as it could have been, with many fans leaving throughout their set.
It wasn’t the best show I saw all week, but it wasn’t that bad either. I can now say that I saw some incarnation of Guns ‘N Roses live, and that is pretty cool.
