There is no denying that I’m a film fan, and living near New York City affords the ability to visit the occasional location shoots.  My first was an outdoor Second Unit sequence for ‘Premium Rush‘ in the summer of 2011 (if memory serves), followed by an outdoor stunt sequence for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ (also known as ‘London Calling‘) at the beginning of March.  Today brought ‘4Square‘, but if you want to be technical, it’s the new ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ film.

I initially spotted the “No Parking” and film permit signs on Monday, so I tipped off On Location Vacations, a film location blog that I’ve been following for a year or so.  Come the end of my work day, I left the building to find trailers as far as the eye could see up and down the south side of the block.  I might have caught one of the cast members heading back into his trailer, but I decided not to pester, so I chatted briefly with a ‘TMNT‘ fan who was waiting around nearby.  Walking up the street, I noticed a few signs on the trailer doors, like “Demetrius”, “Lucy”, and “Desi”, which made me chuckle, as I knew what was being filmed.  The one or two crew members who I briefly spoke with said that it was a closed set, but, really, if people can go in and out of a closed set, it’s not really closed, but I digress.  While I was never the biggest Ninja Turtles fan, I’m still hesitant, as Michael Bay is producing and Megan Fox is the lead female character, but I’ll withhold judgement.

You can find more on-set pictures from today on Noel Fisher Fans.

Megan Fox (‘Transformers‘ and ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen‘) fills the yellow raincoat of April O’Neil, Will Arnett (‘Arrested Development‘, ‘30 Rock‘) as appears as Vernon Fenwick, and the Turtles (Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael) are played by Pete Ploszek (‘Shameless‘, ‘Parks and Recreation‘), Noel Fisher (‘Shameless‘, ‘Battle: Los Angeles‘), Jeremy Howard (‘Breaking Bad‘, ‘Hotel For Dogs‘), and Alan Ritchson (‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘, ‘Blue Mountain State‘), respectively.  Danny Woodburn (‘Bones‘, ‘Mirror Mirror‘) is Splinter, the Turtles’s sensei and leader, and William Fichtner (‘The Lone Ranger‘ (2013), ‘Prison Break‘) has been cast in an iconic role, which I would surmise to be Shredder. The live-action reboot of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ is set to hit theaters on June 6, 2014 with Jonathan Liebesman (‘Wrath of the Titans‘, ‘Battle: Los Angeles‘) directing and Platinum Dunes and Nickelodeon Movies producing.
