Days after its first poster dropped, Alfonso Cuarón’s long-delayed Gravity gets its first teaser trailer.  The teaser does a solid job of laying out the cast and premise without pulling any punches: Two astronauts are stranded outside of their shuttle diminishing oxygen and no sign of rescue. This will assuredly be a breathtaking film, heightened by Cuarón’s long takes, one of which is purported to be seventeen minutes long.

Starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as the two astronauts, one first-timer and one veteran (respectively), stranded due to a freak space junk accident during a spacewalk, the film will finally see release on October 4th in 3D and IMAX 3D, along with conventional 2D theaters.  Previously set to be released last November, the film was pushed back because of post-production effects and 3D conversion. There were also delays stretching back to 2010 because of multiple casting issues, with Natalie Portman and Robert Downey Jr. originally in consideration for the roles, but they departed because of scheduling conflicts.
