Any day when we get new music from The National is a good day. Today is definitely a good day.
The band have released a brand new song called “Demons”, which serves as our first official taste into their upcoming album Trouble Will Find Me.
Upon first listen, “Demons” didn’t do much for me. It definitely has a similar tone to High Violet, which probably makes it a smart move as the first single released. The difference in production is definitely noticeable as well, as the band have gone the self-produce route.
Matt’s lyrics, as always, grabbed me, but as a whole, the song failed to sweep me. But with every new listen the song sort of clicked more and more. This is often the case for new songs from The National. The songs work as ear-worms, making better impressions with every new listen. The more I listen, the more I’m falling for it. God, The National are great.
