While checking out Digits’ facebook page, I stumbled across his post about a song he was digging. I hit play, without even taking note of the songs name or creator. I was instantly hooked into it’s funky electronic groove, with sultry influences spanning all over, especially focused on disco. It was something that seemed like it could be traced back to the 80s, but in fact, it’s a brand new song.
It’s actually “Heaven”, the debut single of Shock, a “passionate dance and pop group” from the Bay Area, in California. They formed in 2010 and feature three members: Terri Loewenthal, Dan Judd and Michael Taras.
Here’s how they describe themselves:
We make cosmic dance and emotional pop music. Vocals and space guitars surrounded with warm synth layers, deep bass, and electric rhythms encourage the crowd to dance. The gentle brush of a windchime signals the beginning of a journey from the pyramids to the ocean. Please float with us.
“Heaven” is a sweet jam that we all must utilize at parties for the rest of the year. It simply doesn’t get much better than this. Imagine if Chromatics and The Rapture made sweet, sweet, love. “Heaven”, just may be the lovechild that resulted from that.
The 12″ single of “Heaven” is out now via Voltaire Records. It’s limited to 500 copies, so move fast. Watch it’s music video below as well.
