Last Wednesday at Bowery Ballroom Local Natives debuted many songs of a new album which they said was coming soon. The next day, the band announced that a new album called Hummingbird is coming on January 29 via Frenchkiss Records. The announcement also came with a new song titled “Breakers”.
As I was busy at CMJ, I wasn’t able to truly sit down and properly listen to “Breakers” until now. I remember being wholeheartedly impressed by the songs emotional power live, and it looks like the band have done the recording just as well. That’s the sort of band Local Natives are, they are able to perform songs just as well live – if not better, while also succesfulyl bringing their live sound to life in the recording studio.
“Breakers” is a beautiful start to what will surely be on of the best albums that January 2013 will see. I cannot wait.
