To get yourself acquainted with Mean Lady, you need to listen to “Bop Bop”. It’s a song that should have you sold on them immediately. This was the high selling point at their show on Tuesday. Katie Dill’s soulful voice is a showstopper, the heart and soul of the band. That’s not to discredit the solid percussion of bassist Sam Nobles and drummer Brian Bruce – who do a great job as well. It’s just that Katie’s vocals are the type of thing that don’t come around too often. The type of stuff that takes a hold of room, and puts it in her control.

This was in full effect on Tuesday, in what may have been my favorite set of the night – and one of the the best of the week. The band perform warm rock that hits a soulful mood. Mean Lady are ones to watch. And Ms. Dill may be our answer to the next great singer-songwriter.

Find photos below, but first, grab “Bop Bop”. It’s truly one of the best songs of the year folks.

I happened to record their performance of “Bop Bop”. Watch that below, and then hit the jump for a gallery of photos from their set.
