In Spin’s lengthy profile on Odd Future, Tyler The Creator speaks about his new album Wolf, the follow-up to Goblin.
The album is looking at a potential May release. Tyler says The Stepkids influenced the work on his new album a great deal. Tyler promises to leave behind the rather grotesque content matter that have turned so many people away from Tyler’s music, on this new album. He told Spin:
Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore. What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to. With Wolf, I’ll brag a little bit more, talk about money and buying shit. But not like any other rapper, I’ll be a smart-ass about it. Now it’s just girls throwing themselves at me and shit, but I got a girl back home. People who want the first album again, I can’t do that. I was 18, broke as fuck. On my third album, I have money and I’m hanging out with my idols. I can’t rap about the same shit.
Probably a smart decision. I’m a fan of Tyler but it’s kind of hard to listen to him around my siblings and more…innocent friends. He’s only 20 years old, give him time. He’s on a path for even bigger and better things, which is saying a lot.
