Maxïmo Park’s lead singer/front man Paul Smith has joined the ever growing list of frontmen that have recently gone solo. Don’t worry though, Maxïmo Park is still together. The band is still working on new material. Paul started working on some songs and they ended up becoming his first album, titled Margins. It’s set to be released on October 11th via Smiths own Billingham Records. It features guest appearances from David & Peter Brewis from Field Music.
He’s giving away a song from the record for free. It’s called “North Atlantic Drift” and it’s an enjoyable little tune, but it’s certainly one that could have passed as the latest Maxïmo Park offering. Sure, you can tell it’s got more of Smith’s stamp on it than usual, but it’s not too much of a departure. This makes sense since he has a heavy hand on the band’s songwriting.
