Blackhawks are a fairly new Philidelphia band led by Nude Beach & Cough Cool’s Dan Svizeny. It also features Adam of Nude Beach, & Yohsuke from Bananas Symphony.

The band has churned out a few songs this year, creating a dedicated following around the blogosphere. I was led to them via my shoutbox, and really enjoyed what I heard. I then checked my e-mail and found almost a dozen emails from DangerVillage, trying to get my attention. Sorry guys, when I have almost 8,000 unread emails, stuff tends to get lost in the mix!

I finally checked out Blackhawks stuff, and it’s quite good. “Sunday Morning” is a song that more than suites my current drowsy state. It has a drowsy atmosphere (sorta like Girls), that your mind will get lost deep within. Is it a stretch to say it’s almost like a hazier version of The Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning”? Probably, but I’m going with it….

“Indigo” is another solid offering from that band that will take you to your happy place (happy gilmore anyone?). In other words, it rules. One of the first songs that they released was a cover of Spacemen 3’s “More Rainbows (Come Down Softly)”. It’s brilliant as well.

Blackhawks are onto something good. Let’s see where they take us next. Certainly ones to watch. For now, download some songs:

You can also stream “High”, the band’s newest song on DangerVillage’s Tumblr.
