Drink Up Buttercup have put out of of the finest debut albums of 2010. I also hear that their live shows are an absolute blast to attend. What’s not to love about these guys?

This is not the first time that you’ve heard about Drink Up Buttercup from me. I posted their wonderful single “Sosey & Dosey” almost one month ago. If you haven’t heard the song yet, I’m not sure what your waiting for (hit play at the end of this post).

Drink Up Buttercup are four gentlemen from Philadelphia who caught the attention of many music fans due to their enthusiastic live shows. After the release of Sosey & Dosey, the band was well on the way towards success. Since then everyone has been spitting out there name in high anticipation to see what would come of them. After spending a decent amount of time with their debut album, Born And Thrown On A Hook, my love for this band shouldn’t be a secret. Rather, I want to share it with as many people as possible.

There is plenty of new music out there in 2010, but not any quite like Drink Up Buttercup. They have the ability to write songs that sound like an acid trip at the circus (Seasickness Pills), and then create a sincere ballad like Lovers Play Dead. No two songs on the album sounds similar. Each song is filled with it’s own unique qualities that make the album a rewarding listen. Pink Sunshine is one of the many gem’s on this album that are worthy of a spot on any top songs list.

Their songs are short and sweet. They smartly find ways to cram as many glorious hooks and sounds that they can. It comes off as a natural talent for Drink Up Buttercup.

The album was official released today, and I can highly recommend it. It has gotten better with every listen, even though I already loved it from the start. Listen to two songs from the record below, and buy it from insound if you’d like to.
