Thom Yorke played some solo shows with a new band that included Flea from the RHCP themselves!! It also consisted of producer Nigel Godrich, Beck/R.E.M. drummer Joey Waronker, and Mauro Refosco of Forro in the Dark. The shows took place on Friday and Sunday in L.A.

He played his solo album The Eraser in its entirety with the band. After that he debuted 4 brand new songs by himself. No one really knows if they will become songs from his next solo album, or if they are for Radiohead. There is no confirmation of it, so we don’t really know yet. Obviously the best guess is that they are future solo Thom songs. However, some people feel strongly about these being Radiohead songs. Hmmm….

They are all very beautiful stripped down Thom pieces. These are more organic piano/guitar pieces, not some much electronic/experimental as we have come to expect from Thom as of late. However, that could all change over time when they get recorded.

“Open the Floodgates” is a really gentle piano piece, with an appropriate song title. “Lotus Flower” is probably my favorite as of now. It is very Radiohead, which could be why I am leaning towards it. “Skirting On The Surface” was similar to “Open The Floodgates”, just Thom and a sad piano piece. “Judge, Jury, & Executioner” is the final track that Thom introduced as being “brand, brand, brand, brand, brand, new!”. It could have fit on “In Rainbows” pretty comfortably. In other words its more Radiohead than Thom Yorke.

So maybe these really are Radiohead songs. At least 2/4 truly seem like it.

Here they are. A live video & mp3 for each!!!
