Here is an introduction to the Hungry Villagers. The band hails from Houston, Texas consisting of 3 brothers (Abraham Houck, Jacob Houck, David Houck) and Ferrik Hallaron IV. The band describes themselves on their website with the following blurb:

From the full and addictive beats arises the melody of two guitars strumming parts in perfect harmony. The voices of the Brothers Houck quickly follow suit, weaving a blanket of sound that lulls the surrounding crowd into a near hypnotic state: swaying and singing, carried away by the music. Mysterious, meaningful lyrics compel listeners to happily follow the Hungry Villagers where ever they may lead.

They are currently set to release their first single “Tree Full Of Ghosts” on March 17th. It is a great single. Right away the band pulls me in with the guitars as well as strong vocals that really take the song away. The rhythm section paves the way for the song, giving it a driving catchy beat. These guys have almost no covereage yet, but there is no doubt that after their sets at SXSW the blog chatter will begin.

For any of you lucky folks who will be in Texas for SXSW, Hungry Villagers will be playing THEFMLY.com Austin Blowout 2009 (presented by thefmly.com, UV Vodka, and Sneak Attack Media) on Thursday March 19 at HiLo (301 W. 6th Street).  The party starts at 10pm until they kick us out!  Click HERE or the image below to RSVP. I wish I could attend!
