Natural Velvet is an independent rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. Last year they released their EP, Cruel Optimism, which closes with “Swan”, a track that they wrote for someone who sadly passed away before they could see what the band has become.
The track captures the bittersweet and emotive nature of such an endeavor with lush shimmering 90s era dream pop with a dark melancholic edge to it.
Detailing the song further, they add:
This song was written for a close friend/music colleague who passed away before they could see what became of our work, and before being able to see us again. We wanted to end this EP on a somber but triumphant note to show that through all the muck and mire you can still be ok and come out stronger each time.
