When we last caught Lucy Dacus, she graced the Brooklyn Steel stage in November alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker as a part of boygenius. On March 20th, she headlined White Eagle Hall in Jersey City with support coming from Mal Blum and Fenne Lily. Still touring in support of her Matador Records debut Historian, Lucy’s setlist also included a handful of selections from No Burden, a couple of covers, and two new songs which she requested that the audience not record.
While it certainly was a pleasure to hear Lucy’s excellent rendition of Édith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose” and it was a pleasant surprise to see Fenne Lily join Lucy on stage to cover “Bobby” by (Sandy) Alex G, the clear highlight of the night was “Night Shift.” The crowd’s enthusiasm swelled as the song progressed, culminating in one of the loudest chorus singalongs that I’ve personally witnessed recently.
For the Lucy Dacus setlist and a photo gallery of her performance as well as openers Mal Blum and Fenne Lily, continue below.
