The National teased that they had something in the works with the announcement last week of select special intimate shows, including a performance at Beacon Theatre on April 22nd. Today they confirmed that with the announcement of their new album I Am Easy To Find, which will be released on May 17th via 4AD.

The announcement comes with the release of a brand new song off the album, “You Had Your Soul With You,” that features the vocals of longtime David Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey. It begins with a jittery experimental start but soon takes flight and has a colorful, almost optimistic feel to it. It took a few listens for the song to work its magic on me and I imagine it will continue to grow on me over time.

A companion short film starring Alicia Vikander and directed by director Mike Mills (Beginners, 20th Century Women) will also be released with the album. You can find the trailer for the short film posted below, along with the album’s tracklisting (and it features the long-awaited fan favorite track “Rylan” – which is also teased in the short film trailer) and the newly announced set of tour dates, which includes a performance at Prospect Park Bandshell on June 12th along with Courtney Barnett.
