Fever Ray, the project of The Knife’s Karin Dreijer, returned last year with her new album Plunge, which was released via Rabid Records/Mute Records. We were eager to see her perform but she didn’t tour until this May when she stopped in for two performances at Brooklyn Hanger as a part of the 2018 Red Bull Music Festival. We caught night one of the run on May 12.
This was my second time seeing her perform, but not since The Knife performed at Terminal 5 way back in 2014. This performance was a pure candy-coated spectacle, with some insane costumes and bright neon colors set the mood for basically one giant dance party. Her vocals, along with Maryam Nikandish and Helena Gutarra sounded amazing along with the razor-tight live band the accompanied it all. Ther crowd didn’t stop hooting or cheering from start to finish and this was just an absolutely great time from start to finish.
Find some iPhone shots from their performance posted below, along with the setlist.
