Arctic Monkeys have kept the momentum going strong following the release of new album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino this Friday via Domino Records. Following an intimate (for them) performance at Brooklyn Steel, the band set up a bunch of pop up shops across the globe, including right here in New York.
Now they’ve made Mothers Day that much more special for all the Arctic Monkeys’ moms out there, dropping the music video for “Four Out Of Five,” the closest thing to a proper lead single from the record. Directed by longtime collaborators Focus Creeps ((Ben Chappell & Aaron Brown), the video doesn’t hide away its Stanley Kubrick influences, with A Clockwork Orange and The Shining being the most obvious here.
What begins with our central figure Alex Turner on the piano, we soon see him (and a trusty dog by his side) walk down the hall of a beautiful home and soon the Kubrick/sci-fi influences creep in as the Tranquility Base Hotel is brought to life. It definitely fits the direction and feel of the track and the album at large. This is definitely one of the most truly cinematic music videos from the band to date and it’s a real treat to watch it unfold.
