On February 7, Strand Of Oaks delighted a small invite only crowd for a performance at Union Pool in Brooklyn (which they last played during CMJ 2007). The show served as a little warm up performance for Timothy Showalter and the rest of Strand Of Oaks, as they prepared for their upcoming tour that would follow the release of their new album Hard Love, which is out now via Dead Oceans.
They treated us to a 7-song set that featured mostly songs from the new record, as well as “Shut In” from their 2014 breakthrough Heal. Even at just seven songs, Strand Of Oaks expanded the set to nearly one hour long, with their expansive songs that play so well with quiet spaces, as well as the eventual punchy-rocker. You truly get the best of both worlds at one of their performances.
Considering it was only a warm up show, it was impressive how locked and ready they were. I can only imagine how good they’ll sound when they’re even tighter on tour in a few months time.
Find their setlist posted below, along with a few photos from the show.
