This year saw former Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman Bob Mould return with Patch The Sky (via Merge Records), his 12th album. He stopped in for a headlining performance at Webster Hall on April 29 in support of the new record, and brought along Ted Leo to open things up.
Mould sounds better than ever on with Patch The Sky, the rare artists who seems to just be getting better with age. His set at Webster Hall was full of favorites from his days with Hüsker Dü and Sugar, and featured a fun cover of The Ramones “Beat On The Brat” (Ted Leo joined them, and drummer Jon Wurster took over the vocals) to kick off the encore.
This was the second time I saw Mould (the first time was at Bowery Ballroom in 2014 but easily the best yet.
