Alex G and Porches at Bowery Ballroom (April 15, 2016)

On April 15, Bowery Ballroom was taken over for a three-bill show that unofficially acted a showcase of the future of Domino Records. The tour was co-headlined by Alex G and Porches, with support coming from Your Friend, the project of Winfield, Kansas native Taryn Blake Miller, who released her debut album Gumption earlier this year via Domino.

It’s amazing how far that both Alex G and Porches have come just by releasing good quality music over time on their respective bandcamp pages, and letting the world of mouths from their young fanbase do all the work for them. The fact they’re able to sell out both Bowery and Music Hall of Williamsburg is a testament to that hardwork. They both delivered engaging performances full of songs throughout their year, as well as from their newest releases via Domino (2015 Beach Music for Alex G, and this year’s Pool for Porches). The show came to a close in the best way imaginable, with Alex G starting the encore with the now rare performance of “Change,” and then a giant jam of “Smoke On The Water,” with everyone from both Porches and Your Friend.
