Brooklyn’s Chairlift have released on of the finer pop albums this year with their breezy delight Moth, which was released much earlier this year via Columbia Records. Back in January they played a show at the beautiful National Sawdust to celebrate the release of the album, check out Bauer’s coverage of that show here. They then returned in April for both an early and a late show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, and we were able to catch the latter show.
It had been a few years since I last saw Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly perform as Chairlift, and what a ways they have come. They’ve expanded their lineup, creating a tighter and much larger scale live show that goes well with their punchier, electro-pop infused sound. The new songs off of Moth sounded truly larger than life at the always cozy MHOW, and old favorites like “Sidewalk Safari,” “Amanaemonesia,” and of course, their trademark track, “Bruises” sounded better than ever.
Chairlift have become a powerful force live, one that I can’t wait to catch again. Find some photos from their performance posted below, along with the setlist.
