Towards the end of July, Sunflower Bean, the hardest working band in NYC, stopped by Rough Trade NYC for their largest headlining show in the city yet. The show came in support of the trios debut 7″ single that they released on Fat Possum, featuring “I Hear Voices” and “The Stalker.”
This performance would be one of the last one in New York for a while for the group, who are hard at work on their debut album. They ripped through their small but distinctive collection of psych-rock bashers, songs that the group have comfortably made very much their own. Live the trio lock into a groove and find new avenues and rabbit holes to take the rippers through, with your mind ending up in a different place than when they began.
The group will return to New York next weekend for an opening slot for DIIV at Webster Hall. As always, it’s going to be a good one. Tickets for that are still on sale.
