Coldplay will always be Coldplay, but each album brings a certain style or approach that defines it. I haven’t quite pinned down how one would classify their upcoming album Ghost Stories (out May 19) as all the tracks have been somewhat different. We had first single “Magic” as well as “Midnight”, “Oceans” and a preview of album opener “Always In My Head.”
Now next single “A Sky Full Of Stars” has come along as proven my point even more so. As we previously mentioned, the single was produced by EMA mainstay Avicii. His influence is felt on the track that one could easily mistake as a EDM remix of a Coldplay track. It has those signature Coldplay marks and Chris Martin vocals, only they work in some dance breakdowns in there. It’s not too overwhelming, but it just feels so different form the rest of the tracks we’ve heard so far.
It’s likely a safe bet to say that we will hear the song non-stop on the radio this summer. Stream “A Sky Full Of Stars” below.
