Body Parts impressed me so much during my showcase at The Living Room the night prior, that I made it a priority on Thursday to catch them again, this time at Pianos.
The vocals of Ryder Bach are the first thing that grab you, with a distinctive warmth and power that you just need to hear live. He has a great vocal range that works wonders when set against his bands funky music which is hard to limit to just one sound. They have some disco-funk elements at play that also work their way into some Dirty Projectors-like harmonies and progressions.
Body Parts have their own presence live that is sharp and really unique to itself. Their debut album Fire Dreams comes out next week on October 29th via Father/Daughter Records. Be on the lookout, because if their live show is any indication, this is going to be one of the best new records you’ll hear this fall.
