Soda Fabric claim to be from Atlantis. When I read that, an image of a sunny sea-inspired pop sound came to mind. They sent me their song “Swim”, so it seemed like a logical thought process, no?
I gave “Swim” a spin, and was drawn in by the opening riff following tranquil sounds of the ocean. It was a more edgy rock sound than I expected. Then it kicks into a new-wave dancy riff, with vocals that rival the talk-singing of Art Brut. I love it. I also found their first single, “Antonia”, another dance-rock song that was very New Order. Frantic guitar riffs over danceable rhythems that just sound bold and grand.
Soda Fabric are a bright spot that are certainly ones to watch in the upcoming months. Don’t let them out of their sight. Download both tracks below, and watch the video for “Swim” after the jump.
