Christmas music isn’t my thing. Sure, I’ll listen to some the week of the holiday, but that’s about it. Any other time it’s just overkill. I don’t mean to be a kill joy, it’s usually just not my thing. Every now and then I’ll soften up a bit and give some stuff a chance, usually in the form of a good cover or a classic cut (Bing Crosby anyone?) that is hard for even me to hate on. Laurie Cameron did both.
Laurie Cameron is a talented young woman from Scotland that I posted about a while back. Laurie is actually a friend of mine, but that’s not why I’m sharing her music with you. She’s extremely talented, and deserves to be noticed.
She just released two songs that put a refreshing twist on the Christmas genre. One is an actually tolerable version of “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, the other is an original called “One Christmas Fall”. Both are delicate showcases for Laurie’s beautiful voice, and something that I wouldn’t mind hearing during snowfalls like the one I’m experiencing tonight.
Watch the video for “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home” below, and head here to listen to “One Christmas Fall”.
