Now I was sort-of kidding when I said that Weezer probably named new album Hurley after Hurley from Lost. Then I saw the announcement that the album cover featured Jorge Garcia, who played Hurley on Lost. Go Figure. Only Weezer!
Pitchfork asked Rivers about it in an e-mail interview and this is what he said:
“We just wanted to use that picture of Jorge Garcia’s face on the cover. It’s such an amazing album cover, and we didn’t want to have any other words on it, so we just figured everyone was going to call it Hurley, so that’s what we call it.”
As a Lostie myself, this is too awesome for words. If I wasn’t a Lost fan I may find this utterly ridiculous and absurd.
