Kele Okereke, the notable front man of Bloc Party has announced that he has finished recording his first solo album. It’s called The Boxer, and will be released on June 22nd, via Glassnote Records. It was produced by XXXchange (Spank Rock), with mixing done by Philippe Zdar who worked on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.
Even though Bloc Party is currently on hiatus, Kele decided to use his down time to experiment in a recording studio. He fooled around with synth’s, programmed drum beats, expanding on the sounds that Bloc Party hinted with on Intimacy. The first single off of Boxer will be “Tenderoni”. It certainly has me intrigued. I didn’t particularly like all the electronic influences in Bloc Party’s music, so I am hoping that Kele is able to get all of them out on this album. I am very interested to see how this album comes about!
I trust that Kele will deliver a strong inspiring album full of inspiring lyrics and enthralling sounds and melodies.
