Upcoming Irish singer-songwriter Rowan Murphy recently released their debut single “Heal In Hell”, a song that “speaks to the highs and lows of young infatuation.”
The track captures a warm and comforting blend of alt country and folk, with a magical feeling in the air that has an old school spirit that also looks ahead towards the present. There’s a melancholic feeling in the air, which is well tuned for the reflective nature of the song.
As Murphy details the song below:
“‘Heal in hell’ was written from the perspective of someone in a domestic relationship. I wrote the song very late one night when I was 16 after seeing someone speak about their relationship online. I remember thinking how strange it is that we can become so dismissive of extreme faults in a person when we’re so enamoured by them, and further, how we can be forced into situations that we’re left dealing with alone despite it consuming so much of our lives. In the song, I wanted to encapsulate the feeling that there was nothing outside the world that was created between two people. There’s such a sense of apathy in ‘Heal in hell’ as a song, especially towards the end where it gets to a point where they dont care what happens or what effect it will have on the other person in question.
