
Canadian artist small poppies released their single “Exit” earlier this year. It’s a personal song that he describes as about “moving to a new city, and the feeling of missing my loved ones and not belonging in a new place.”
There’s a raw 90s indie rock nature to it, with a hushed quality that allows the atmospheric glow of the guitars do all the heavy lifting. As it slowly builds and builds, it delivers elements of shoegaze and blissful guitars that craft a shimmering sense of melancholy.
