Justice returned to New York on Thursday, July 25th, for the first of two sold out shows at Brooklyn Navy Yard – which began putting on shows earlier in the Spring. The tour comes in support of their new album Hyperdrama, released this Spring – their first new album in eight years.
The performance marked the French duo’s first back here in the states since the pandemic, and my first time seeing them since Lollapalooza 2012. The cavernous warehouse at Brooklyn Navy Yard provided the perfect rave-like atmosphere for the performance, which was illuminated by an utterly impressive light rig by lighting designer Vincent LĂ©risson.
The rig moved in an immersive manner above and near the duo, provided one of the most astonishing light shows that I have ever seen at a show. As they performed their throbbing dance music, the sold out crowd was letting loose using both their voices and dance moves to thrust the show into a fever-pitch state.
The performance stretched throughout their career, along with fresh interpretations and remixes that made the performance stand out. It was a mix of feeling like a rave and a rock show – the balancing act that the duo have done so marvelously throughout their career.
Justice will be back for a set of West Coast dates this fall, and if you have a chance to catch this show, don’t hesitate to grab tickets.
