Photos and Articles by Will Oliver
Following a triumphant Day 1 of Newport Folk Festival, we returned to the Fort for Day 2, which featured another extraordinarily diverse range of artists to keep us company under the sun. Headlining the day was the always tremendous presence that is Jon Baptiste, who only a few years ago played an early set at The Fort, and was now the one closing things down – an inspirational feat, no doubt.
The festival’s well-rounded set of music not only leaned into folk, but rock, country, indie rock, and more, showcasing a diverse range of artists, both familiar and new.
This included performances from Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Angel Olsen, Marnie Stern, The Hold Steady, Goose, Bartees Strange, Indigo de Souza, Alice Phoebe Lou, and many more.
