Longstanding British indie rock outfit Departure Lounge have recently reunited and are preparing for the release of new album Transmeridian, their first album in 19-years, which will be released on March 26th via Violette Records.
Along with the news came the album’s stirring first single “Mercury in Retrograde” a track that feels like a classic already, as if it was pulled straight from a 7″ found while crate digging at your favorite record shop.
The track combines some lush guitar work with playful synths all provide the perfect soundscape for the lovely words sung by lead singer Tim Keegan.
About the track Keegan said:
It’s the only complete song we already had when we reunited. It had been a live staple in our first operative period around the turn of the century, but slipped through the net when it came to recording. At the reunion gigs, several people said it had always been their favourite and it still sounded fresh so we decided to record it and I’m really pleased we did.”
