Well this winter storm was somewhat of a bust, but we still get to make the most of a day spent camped up inside, as the first official Fantastic Four trailer has been released.
There’s been a lot of negative publicity about the Josh Trank-led production of Fantastic Four that started with the revealing of the cast almost a year ago to the day. So it’s great to finally get the trailer and judge the film solely on that merit alone.
The trailer is accompanied by a sparse piano piece, along with some voiceover narration that precedes the set of footage that we are shown. One by one we catch glimpses of the eventual Fantastic Four, living normal lives before they’re sent out on a mission to another dimension that changes all of their lives forever (there’s an Interstellar vibe felt here for sure). We are shown just enough footage that it gives us some idea of the direction of this franchise, while also constantly keeping us on our toes. It’s only a trailer, but I bet many skeptics of the film may be eating their words.
