Last Monday night The Notwist stopped by New York City, giving their all to a more than enthusiastic crowd at Webster Hall. The performance was the German bands first NYC stop in support of their new album Close to the Glass.

It was my first time catching the band live, and what a tight performance it was. The band have been playing together since the early 90s, and it showed. They were technical experts, able to weave in and out of melodies with ease. A highlight of the night was recent album single “Kong” with a delirious fuzz guitar riff that set me right.

They had everyone in the crowd moving and enjoying themselves, living up to their promise and then some.

Electronic hip-hop artist Jel opened the show in impressive style, giving a unique and refreshing spin on both genres. Find photos of both The Notwist and Jel, posted below.
