Danish rockers Lower stopped by The Acheron on Friday night to play a thrilling set of brooding tunes rooted in atmospheric punk-rock.
It was my first time seeing them live, and I was impressed. Vocalist Adrian Toubro offers up a passionate delivery to his performance, delivering each line just as passionately as the next. His detailed and emotive lyricism is not something to be ignored. His messages are then drenched in a dark atmosphere of pounding drums and moody memorable guitar lines by his band. Their sound was a perfect fit for a venue such as The Acheron, where you feel like you are in a foreign club that’s buried deep underground.
Later this month (June 17 – to be exact) they will release their debut album Seek Warmer Climes on Matador Records. From the two tracks we’ve heard so far, to the rest that I heard on Friday, it’s a not a record you want to miss out on.
