British act Fear Of Men released their fantastic debut album Loom this Tuesday via Kanine Records. I’ve been spinning it non-stop as of late, and can’t recommend it enough. They played a few shows in NYC over this weekend, and rounded it all up with a free stop at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn.
Brooklyn act Las Rosas opened things up and did so in a highly enjoyable fashion. After the show I found out the group features Jose Boyer who played bass in the new extinct band Harlem. The band sounded like a solid mixture of present day Black Lips and Allah-Lahs. Lots of jangly no-BS rock tracks that sound just as appropriate for a party in your garage as a nice summer day. This trio brings all the good vibes. Stay tunes for their debut album later this year.
Fear Of Men are a band I first posted back in 2012, so it’s great to finally have their debut album out, and for it to be as good as it is. Their live show didn’t disappoint at all. Frontwoman Jessica Weiss led the charge with a confident stage presence that was engaging and captivating. The songs were brought to life in as good a fashion as I could have hoped for, with “Luna” being the main highlight for me. For a free show they gave there all and had me quite impressed.
