Mikal Cronin had a nice year, releasing his awesome new record MCII, which more people should have heard. Either way, I caught him Wednesday night at Webster Hall where he headlined a major bill that included opening sets from The Entrance Band, Nude Beach and Saint Rich. Although I missed the openers due to an early screening of American Hustle for Monday Morning Matinee (Read my review here) I got there in time for Mikal Cronin.
Their California-based guitar rock warmed the crowd up, a good distraction from the bitter cold weather that awaited us outside. He played MCII highlights such as “Change”, “Weight”, “See It My Way” and of course “Shout It Out.” I’m used to seeing Cronin play alongside Ty Segall’s band, but he becomes quite a frontman on his own and is able to lead the way with a exciting charge.
Check out some more photos from his set posted below.
