Richard Ayoade, you sir, once again have my attention. The director of the magnificent Submarine (which was his directorial debut!) is back with his new film, The Double.
It’s a loose adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel that tells the tale of a man (Jesse Eisenberg) who suddenly sees the appearance of his own doppelganger. Naturally, he begins to lose his mind. Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, and two actors from Submarine, Noah Taylor and Yasmin Pagie also star in the film.
The first trailer is more of a teaser, showing the surreal atmosphere that Ayoade has accomplished.
It premiered this weekend at Toronto. No official U.S. release date yet. Catch the trailer below.
